Slack

I have worked at Slack (now I say “on the Slack team” since the Salesforce acquisition) for over seven years now. I currently work as a content designer on the product team, focused on productivity tools like canvases, lists, and huddles at the moment. I previously worked as a content designer on the growth team, and prior to that had a whole career as a copywriter on the creative team working on web, digital marketing, and video.

I haven’t updated the work you see here since I switched teams in 2022, so it’s a bit stale. I’m working on it, okay?

WEB

I’ve rewritten the Slack homepage as many times as I can remember, which is roughly six times. Without spilling too much of the secret sauce, an eternal struggle for the Slack homepage (and writers at Slack, in general) is describing what Slack is and what it does.

A recent immersive redesign of the homepage, testing a more direct and guided approach to explaining Slack.

Video

Oh look, a video that got taken off YouTube. A novel concept. I need to track down a hard copy and upload it to my personal Vimeo.

“Work in progress” - Broadcast TV - Creative direction

“You got this” - Connected TV - Script, creative direction

”Welcome to your new HQ” - Connected TV - Script, creative direction

Brand and integrated marketing CTV and digital video. Script writing, on-set and post-production direction

Left: Flagship video for integrated thought leadership campaign. Distilled talking points from an extensive report into :90 script, animated by Giant Ant.

More to come

At the time of this writing (August 2021), I have been at Slack for three years and six months to the day, so there is plenty of additional work to show here. But it is getting late and, through a clerical error, I am legally obligated to obey my bed time.
